Mark Crookston (Programme Director, Documentary Heritage), Peter Whitehead (Collection Care Leader, Tāhuhu), David Adams (Tāhuhu Preservation and Digitisation Lead) shared their knowledge of how this building has been designed to provide for our holdings, for us and for our customers. They gave detailed descriptions of the spaces for digitisation, conservation, preservation and quite a bit more.

During the Q&A session Sandra Falconer (Tāhuhu Archives Holdings, Repository Lead) answered a question about the size of the goods lifts and lobby. To add to her initial answer that the lobby is “at least 4 metres deep” she has provided these exact measurements:

  • The internal dimensions of the goods lift are 1800mm wide x 3400mm deep.

  • The lift doors open to 1800mm wide and the depth of the Lobby 4125mm.

More facts and figures on moving holdings and collections through the building will be covered in another Tāhuhu Thursday presentation later this year.
