Printed copies of Royal Commission of Inquiry report ‘Whanaketia’ now available to public

The Auckland and Christchurch offices of Archives New Zealand and the National Library in Wellington each have one printed copy of the Royal Commission of Inquiry report ‘Whanaketia – through pain and trauma, from darkness to light’ available to the public.

‘Whanaketia – Through pain and trauma, from darkness to light’

On 24 July, the Royal Commission of Inquiry final report was published on the Royal Commission’s website.

The report is made up of an introductory volume, 9 parts, a survivor experience study and 5 case studies. ‘Whanaketia’ should be read in full, along with other reports from the Inquiry to understand the overall picture of abuse and neglect in the care of State and faith-based institutions from 1950 to 1999.
