Leo Bensemann was born in 1912. He was a member of the Canterbury School of painters, and of ”The Group“, that broke away from the Canterbury Society of Art.

Bensemann was noted for his landscapes, lino and woodcuts, and etchings. He worked as a compositor for the Caxton Press.
Bensemann died in 1986.
