Closure of the Constitution Room

From 7 April 2017 the Constitution Room, which houses the Treaty of Waitangi and a selection of other significant documents, will be closing to the public. This closure is to allow for the preparation and relocation of the documents that will be integrated into the new permanent exhibition, He Tohu. These include:

These documents will be able to be viewed again once the He Tohu exhibition space opens at the National Library on 20 May 2017.

Advance bookings for a He Tohu educator-led programme are now being taken. Programmes are free of charge and can be adapted for any year level. To make a booking or to find out more, email natlibtours@dia.govt.nz.

Tours of Archives New Zealand’s Wellington Office

Due to the November 2016 earthquakes we are unable to take tour groups into the repository. No archive material was damaged as a result of the quakes, but remedial work in some areas is still underway.
