Sustaining Knowledge through Digital Continuity

This report outlines the findings of research into the management of digital information by six
public sector organisations.

The primary goal of this research is to support the Digital Continuity Action Plan through
better understanding of public sector awareness and practices for management of digital
knowledge. The driver for this research programme is an acceptance that active short,
medium and long term management of digital information is critical in supporting public sector
business. It also enables evidence-based decision making, protects intellectual assets,
supports ongoing research and innovation, effective disaster preparedness, and ensures a
historic record of government is maintained through public archives.
