Making Your Own Copies

Personal camera use

Personal cameras, eg: digital or mobile phone cameras, may be used to make copies of archival records in Archives New Zealand’s reading rooms in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.

A camera is a cheap, quick, and effective way to make copies of archival materials. It gives you the ability to instantly control the quality and quantity of the copying you require.

To use a personal camera in any of the Archives New Zealand reading rooms you will need to register as a camera user and comply with the 'Using Personal Cameras to Copy Archives' Information Sheet.

Publishing

Please note that should you wish to publish material sourced from Archives New Zealand, you will need to apply using our general enquiries form.

Please provide the full archives reference and description of the file and state the title and format of the publication/website/documentary.
