Ideology
The period following World War One saw the increase of the ideological "isms" - communism, capitalism socialism, fascism, nationalism, ultra-nationalism etc. Sometimes lines blurred between them e.g. Communists and Socialists fought the Nationalists/Fascists in the Spanish Civil War, but opposed each other on other issues like the inevitability of war between communism and capitalism. There were also divisions within the same grouping e.g. Pro-Russian Communists, Pro-Chinese Communists and purely Ideological Communists.
