Malaya and Kuala Lumpur

Among the many countries that Walter Nash visited as Prime Minister were Malaya and Kuala Lumpur. His main visits to these regions occurred in 1958 and 1960. In 1958 he visited New Zealand troops in Malaya and attended an ECAFE conference in Kuala Lumpur. In 1960, as well as attending the Commonwealth Prime Ministers Conference (London) he visited Tun Abdul Razaq at Kuala Lumpur, and opened the agricultural college at the University of Malaya.

New Zealanders in Malaya. Jungle Patrol by S.A.S. Squadron. At Kuala Lumpur the C.O. of the New Zealand S.A.S. Squadron briefs Corporal Huia Woods for a jungle patrol. For five days they patrol the Malayan jungle in search of terrorists, and then receive an air-drop of food, mail and ammunition.
