This exhibition showcases a small sample of records from the Rt. Hon. Sir Robert Muldoon's collection of photographs and papers.
Collection W4742 includes more than 80 photograph albums relating to official visits to overseas countries as well as to official occasions in New Zealand. Albums relating to overseas visits are particularly plentiful and include official visits to China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Australia, USA, Mexico, Western Samoa, Hawaii, the United Kingdom, Greece, Bahrain and many more areas throughout the world. This exhibition also shows a number of photos related to Prime Minister Muldoon’s visits to the White House and his relationship with United States President, Ronald Reagan.
New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Robert Muldoon visited President, Ronald Reagan, twice on official visits to the White House. They first met there on 24 July 1981, and then again on 24 February 1984.
The official photos and letters of exchange found in this collection show that Prime Minister Muldoon and President Ronald Reagan had a very cordial relationship.
