This Album contains the case records for Patient 2956.
The Album includes the Statutory Papers relating to his committal, admission, and discharge from Seacliff Lunatic Asylum. The Statutory Papers also contain the reports of two medical practitioners on his mental state.
The Medical Casebook documents the diagnosis and his treatment. The Medical Casebook contains biographical details about him, summaries of the reports of the two medical practitioners from the Statutory Papers, a psychiatric assessment, and notes on diagnosis and treatment. The Medical Casebook also contains a questionnaire completed by the patient's relative describing his life history, etc.
Many Medical Casebooks include photographs of patients. It is likely that some of the photographs were taken by Frederic Truby King. It isn't entirely clear if the photographs were taken for identification purposes only, or if they were used for diagnostic purposes also.
The names of the patient and their relatives have been deleted to protect their privacy.
Patient 2956 was in Seacliff during 1896.
