Public Offices as defined in the Public Records Act are covered. Public Offices are the agencies and instruments of the legislative, executive and judicial branches of government.
Examples of Public Offices are:
Public service departments as defined in section 2 of the State Sector Act 1988 - such as Department of Internal Affairs and Ministry of Health
Crown Entities including:
Offices of Parliament such as the Office of the Ombudsman and the Office of the Auditor General
State Enterprises such as Meridian Energy Limited and New Zealand Post
Local authorities are covered by the Public Records Act 2005. These organisations include all regional councils and territorial authorities, council controlled organisations and local government organisations. An example of a local authority is Wellington City Council.
